Alternative veterinary medicine for your four legged companion might save you many dollars and keep your pet happy and healthy. At times it might be necessary to blend this with a touch of conventional veterinary medicine.
My Siamese cat, Diablo, is over 12 years old now. He’s affectionate, contented, very active, eats well and does not show a sign of arthritis yet.. And I attribute all this to the resources that are available to me. It makes it possible to treat Diablo myself at home, using herbs and natural products. It’s amazing that some of the remedies I use are found in my own kitchen cupboards.
Did you know you can give a constipated cat 1tbsp. of canned pumpkin twice a day? And the result is that a trip to the litter box box stops being a dramatic and very vocal event..
Vaccinations
Yes I realize our pets need to be vaccinated. But every year? I suspect that the yearly rabies shot our pets get might protect them much longer than one year. The side effects of these shots can be very serious. Some pets have allergic reactions and then are given some more chemicals in a needle to counteract the reaction. And the same goes for the other vaccines that are mixed in with it.
Look at the vaccinations people get. Some of them are good forever, others for 10 years or so. Take small pox or tetanus, for instance. I don’t see any reason why animal vaccines would only protect for one year. Of course, the pharmaceutical companies will not tell us. And why should veterinarians refuse the yearly $100.–, give or take a bit.. Only the doctors practicing alternative veterinary medicine seem to be willing to inform us.
Pet foods
We all remember the pet food recall not too long ago. Many owners lost their companions. And that is sad. Especially if those pets die because of some company adding a lethal ingredient to the already not so pet friendly food. Just because for some reason it seemed convenient. That’s how i look at it anyway. Sure, commercials may sound so positive and caring. Oh yes, they do care…but mainly for the bottom dollar.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying all pet food companies are like that. But I do suspect quite a few of them are.
Centuries ago before they were domesticated dogs and cats hunted for their own food and ate things their digestive system could handle. When they were first domesticated they also got mainly healthy food. In the last three or four decades preservatives, additives, color and byproducts have been added to the mix.. And don’t forget about gluten.
The best way to get around all this is by making our own pet food. Don’t you think your pet is worth doing that?
