On April 25-26, 2024, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in conjunction with People’s Government of Chonqing, Rongchang District convened “International Symposium on Pathways to Reduce The Need for Antimicrobials to Support Sustainable Livestock Transformation”. The theme of this symposium was “Reducing Dependence on and Demand for Antimicrobial and Promoting the Transformation of Sustainable Agricultural Food Systems”.
Prior to the opening of the symposium, Rongchang District Government organized academicians and experts to visit enterprises for technical tours. Through face-to-face exchanges with enterprises, bridges were built for the landing and transformation of domestic and foreign scientific and technological achievements, accelerating the development of new productive forces and better serving the development of the livestock industry. Designated as one of the visitation sites, Fangtong received more than 50 foreign experts and scholars from 35 countries including the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Japan, and India. etc.
On the afternoon of the 24th, FAO expert teatm arrived at Fangtong, General Manager Mr. Tang greeted the visiting guests. Mr. Fu, from Overseas Developing Dept, introduced the development history, international cooperation, and research achievements of Fangtong to the FAO export team. Mr. Fu stated that Fangtong people have always been rigorous, pragmatic, passionate, and professional, emphasizing that professionalism means doing one thing well, For Fangtong, the one thing is to make good medicines. After years of accumulation, Fangtong has successfully developed eight new veterinary drugs, six of which are traditional Chinese herbal preparations that significantly enhance the overall nonspecific immunity of animals, greatly reducing the use of antibiotics in clinical practice. The trend towards reducing antibiotic use, decreasing antimicrobial resistance, and promoting the safety of animals and humans is undeniable. Eight years ago, Fangtong invested in the construction of a disinfectant production line, aiming to provide a barrier for the biological safety of breeding farms. Fangtong has always adhered to the original intention and concept of “Good Medicine Made by Fangtong, Benefit to Animal Health”.
FAO experts showed great interest in Fangtong’s disinfectant products, Chinese herbal medicines and green feed additives, believing that these products have great potential in replacing antibiotic use. An official from the Indonesian Pharmaceutical Office actively encouraged and invited Fangtong to promote products in the Indonesian market, and also introduced the general process and approval time for veterinary drug registration in Indonesia.
Fangtong was greatly encouraged by FAO expert team visit, seeing more opportunities for development and reaffirming its direction towards green development.
